The Internet is constantly on the move, which is why it‘s vital to maintain your presence on the web and keep your search engine optimization efforts fresh and up to the minute. There are thousands of posts on forums where people complain about how they had a high page ranking when they launched their site, but have disappeared into the ether and don’t understand why. The answer is simple: other sites with better search engine optimisation tools and link building strategies have barged them out of the way.
Many people look at SEO and launching a website as a one-off event, but this is a serious misconception. Yes, you may attract visitors when you launch your new, snazzy site, but if the content doesn’t change or you don’t create new links, people quickly become bored. Many visitors look at the small print on websites, too, and if they see that your last news item was in 2006 or that the site has not been updated your audience will think that your site is stale.
But, maintaining traffic and adding new SEO tools does not mean a total revamp every three months. There are some quick and easy ways to keep your web presence fresh without breaking the bank.
Blogging is a great way to regularly update your site and create constant traffic. Once people realise that your site changes on a regular basis then they will visit more frequently as they know there’ll be something new. This also produces great SEO results as the search engines will also pick up on the fact that your site is well and truly live. A word of warning though! Never forget quality beats quantity every time. While visitors want new information it has to be interesting so don’t update a blog or news section for the sake of it.
Social media marketing is another great way to maintain interest. Social media has exploded onto the scene in recent years and if it’s the right place for you to market your site then make the most of it to steer traffic your way. Once again though use SMO but don’t abuse it. Only add information that is relevant as once people lose interest it’s much harder to win them over again.
Having effective and consistent link building strategies is also a good way to generate continued traffic. By constantly adding new links, with reputable sites, you will continue to reach new audiences and generate more relevant traffic. What’s more the better the links you attract the more reputable sites will want to link to your site so it’s a win-win situation.
There are plenty of free SEO tools you can use to maintain interest in your site, but if you’re worried about not having the time to implement your own regular Internet reputation management, then an SEO company might be the answer. While, this may cost money, there are many great packages around and the return on investment will be huge as a stale website is an ineffective site.
