In any form of search engine optimization, the effectiveness of your link building is crucial. Good link building strategies make your web links be in the right place, at the right time, and ensure they stand out above your competitors. Link building is more than just creating effective links with relevant keywords; the positioning of your links is probably one of the most important factors, because if nobody can see your links, then nobody will follow them.
Using article directory sites is an old technique which people use for increasing their links. Nowadays with the clamp down on duplicate copy, simply submitting your articles to as many directories as possible is not always effective; however choosing a few key sites such as ezine or goarticles can help increase links to your website, as long as the SEO content is interesting enough.
Social networking sites are talked about all the time and we are all familiar with the importance of them within our search engine optimisation considerations, however the great thing about putting relevant posts and links on social networking sites is the speed in which they can be distributed. Links are called so for a reason, in that they link one thing to another and can go round and round. They are not just a one way street so creating successful links within an online community is always going to increase traffic.
Work with other bloggers, especially the successful ones. It is worth being a guest writer on another blog site or news page and then having a link to your site. You will more than likely have to return the favour to the other blogger, however sharing your links is a great and sociable way to increase the effectiveness of your links.
Consider the importance of natural content and use this to your advantage. Any places where you are posting more natural copy such as social networking sites, forums or blogs are great places to add in links. Link building works well when it is done naturally, and both search engines and human searchers respond well to links which are contained within natural text.
News searches and press statements are things which people will actively search for, so including links to your website through other pieces or content is always effective. If you are able to create links to something which is current news or really fresh content then your links are likely to be more appealing and popular and traffic to your website will increase without much effort but as with all SEO, relevancy is the key!
Lastly, focus on the reader not just yourself. Always aim links at your readers and think what link phrases they would like to see. Your content is only as good as the person reading it perceives it, so think more about their perceptions and opinions as opposed to your own. Customer feedback is a good way to discover this, even if it is negative. Take any criticism well and learn from it, as the comments that break you could be the comments that make you.
